well with the latest i can tell right off the rip that is loads way way way faster!!!. Well had my first reboot right after i got all pumped about the speed!!!

Edit: OOOOPPPPSSSY!!!! had two module files!!!

Ok after the reboot and the dumb mistake by me this seems real smooth. The backlight is acting a little funny from time to time

F22, are you using the google toolchain or one of the codesourcery ones?

CodeSourcery vs. Google Toolchains.

I updated to codesourcery's latest toolchain, 2010.09-50, earlier that same day. Prior to that I had been using codesourcery's 2008q3. WisTilt2 uses google's.

Re: New Kernel (WisTilt2) 2nd Edition - Rhodium Definition

BTW, I kind of assumed everyone knew what a Rhodium was when I asked for testers and put up that big warning with the test kernel. (I'm too used to XDA Devs) For those that don't already know, a Rhodium is an HTC Touch Pro 2, aka AT&T Tilt 2. This includes Bariums & Tungstens, both GSM & CDMA. So as long as you have a Touch Pro 2 of some sort, you're eligible to test the improvements in WisTilt2's kernel.

First post updated guys. Keyboard backlight works! Just need to have it on in WinMo when you boot haret. I'm paranoid so I hit a few keys until I see it dim, then I know linux has it. Once that happens, it should turn off after 3 seconds, turn on with typing, and turn on/off with portrait/landscape keyboard slides. Enjoy!

Thx for the work.
One question though. How does improvements like this make it into official releases or the XDA version or whatever?

Well it's a process. We try to test the crap out of everything before it's officially committed. Then once it's in the git tree, anyone can build it. Unfortunately the main "autobuild" service (GlemSom's) is down, so it's not receiving updates currently. Hopefully it'll be up soon. In the meantime, F22 maintains a thread with the actual committed stuff (which he just compiles from the git tree and distributes), and I'll be maintaining this testing thread.

Also, I've updated the first post again. New kernel has 5s timeout on the backlight, and the kbd backlight brightness should match what WinMo is using. Again, don't forget to initialize it in WinMo before booting!

Thats interesting, I guess i just dont have any idea how people can share code like that. Anything i have worked on isnt modular like that. I would break the crap out of everyone's code if i even looked at it LOL And when your actually coding the changes all that is local to you and your just doing the testing on your own before commiting.
How big are your changes that you are committing like in lines?
Once again thanks for all the work you guys do.

Re: [TESTING] New Kernel (Speakerphone mic/keyboard bl!!!)

I can confirm that the keyboard backlight is now working like in wm. However, the front 4 hard key backlights are now broken. If the keys are lit before booting into android the keys stay lit and do not turn off. If keys are not lit, the keys do not illuminate at all.
