Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
The first post of the thread gives directions but here is a little more detailed.
1)Download one of the current roms in post #2 to your computer. I am using froyostone and I believe that has been the most popular build. 2)Extract all files within the package to the root of your storage card, meaning place all files on the storage card but not in a folder. When you view your storage card on your phone you should be able to see all the files and folders that are in the package. 3) Download the zimage and startup text files posted in post #224 and #225. You can use either zimage but the startup text in post #224 must be used with either. 4)Once all files are in place, click on the .exe titled clrcad. It will run but you will not see anything happen. After selecting that, select haret.exe and that will boot linux and you will then be in android once it completes. |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
ok guys, you HAVE to download and try this new ROM
http://www.gamesquare.co.uk/froyo.html it's awesome, fast, so far bug free as far as I can tell, bluetooth works, you can even transfer files via USB while in Android with no issues. |

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
I put this build on a friends HD2 yesterday and it looks pretty solid...I've been running Android since Monday without a single boot back into Windows...I'm not touching anything until this thing screws up, LOL

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
I tried both of the Zimage files in the previous posts and they make it impossible to use wi-fi. On the wireless & networks settings screen it just says Error under wi-fi and if I tap it to enable it nothing happens.
Does anyone have any overclocked / undervolted zimage files where everything else works on them? |

WOW...incredible how builds can vary soo much between users OrangeKid...that build is NOTHING but trouble for me...4 SOD's in less than 2 hours...
Moved on to Shu8i's newest build, 8-20-2010...i can confirm that MMS is 100% working with this build...i have no idea how or why because i've used those exact settings before and got nothing, but i can say i'll be sticking with this build as long as i can! |

LOL...this shit is crazy...so i'm using the Shu8i build but i had to switch out that zImage for an older one (mattfroyo1.5b) to stop from getting the SOD...but it is running great now! |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
Where are you guys finding Shu8i's file, ..is it posted here somewhere?

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
Are you guys formatting your memory card everytime you switch to a new build or just deleting the appropriate files and replacing them? I have been only using one memory card for android and windows but if formatting needs to be done every time, I going to have to go back to using 2 separate ones.

I haven't formatted my card one time, and everything works fine.

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
Sounds like I will stay with the one card then. Much easier than having to carry an extra one around all the time. Downloading the Froyo 2.1 from darkstone now. Will try all these other builds that have been suggested in the coming days.

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
I will load that one tomorrow on the day off. So far I like the 8/17 darkstone but it does seem slower than some of the previous builds. LED's are working but I am not getting any vibration with the notifications. Are you having this issue on that particular build or is it working?
|
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
Just tried loading the rom you suggest orangekid and couldn't get past the setup. First time I booted it, I made it about 4 screens into the setup and then it crashed. Rebooted nad then only made it 3 screens in before it locked up. For now I am going to revert back to the darkstone nexus one build and see if I can figure out what is causing the problem on mattc's rom.

What is your winmo ROM and radio version? |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
I am running the Elegancia 6.5.x from miri and steve, radio is 2.10.10 I believe. I actually could not get sense to load after booting back to windows at first. Took a couple restarts to get it back.

Make sure to use this custom RUU to flash it if you don't want the flashing to hard-reset your device. If you do use this custom RUU, you have to rename the radio file to RUU_Signed.nbh or it won't work. If you don't mind a hard reset, then just flash it with the normal RUU it comes with. Also I use Energy ROM, if the radio doesn't fix an issue I'd try that. |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
also, try these battery settings and let's see how they improve the battery:
Battery life is definitely great with following SetCPU setting I have: 1. Main tab: 883/245 on demande set on boot 2. Profiles a. batter <50% 768/245 on demand priority 100 b. temp>50.0 Celcius 768/245 on demand priority 100 c. Screen off 245/245 on demand priority 100 d. battery <25% 652/245 priority 0 3. Adance a. sampling rate: 20000 b. up threshold 30% c. Ignore 0 d. Powersave bias 0 Set on boot checked |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
After double checking a couple things, that is the radio I am using. The rom I am using I have been using since day one of booting android so I don't think that's the problem but its worth a shot.

Was finally able to get mattc's rom to load and it has been nothing but trouble for me. notification lights are not working which isn't a huge deal but I get a sod it seems like everytime I turn off the screen so have to constantly restart. Moving on to another build today.

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
This ROM looks AWESOME. WiFi tethering working, 2gb store, 180 dpi, looks pretty sweet.

I am using a dinik glass 21914 - 6.5 ROM. to me the 21xxx ROMs are better and more stable, not really a fan of 6.5.x Use either cookie or dinik glass, I don't much care for the GTX theme, too white, but you can grab that one too. Really any ROM on that page should do you fine. |

Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
Was able to load Bangsters V1.1 on first try still on Elegancia rom. First time I turned off the screen I let it sit for about 15 seconds then tried turning it on and just the back light came on. Waited again and was able to get it to come up fully. Loading the Leoimg to my memory card now so I can flash the energy rom and see what changes it makes. Definitely like the looks of this bangsters rom.
EDIT: Flashing Energy rom made a world of difference for speed and performance while in android. Bangsters rom is great but there are some scaling issues due to being 180dpi I believe so I don't think its going to work for me as I can't find a way to fix that. I'm downloading a build from shubcraft now that has a way to adjust the scale according to the changelog. Based on CM6 like bangster so should be very similar in performance. Shubcraft's rom is very nice just like Bangsters but the problem I am finding with it cannot be tolerated. I am unable to setup my exchange server for work and it looks like I am not the only one having the issue when searching the thread. Seem to have problems keeping a data connection as well. Have just found a link at xda on how to change the dpi so going back to bangsters after making some adjustments. |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
Anyone out there using an exchange server on any of the new CM6 builds successfully? I have tried 3 or 4 different ones today and none of them cannot connect to my server but any other account I set up works just fine. Went back to the FroyoStone V2.1 and was able to set it up no problems. I'm thinking that there is something within CM6 that is causing the error.

Best build yet
SHUB 1.5 been running it for 3 days straight not one sod not one reboot not one freeze
NUFF SAID GET IT HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740963 |
Re: Android on HD2 updates + ROMs + Builds
I just loaded SHUB 1.5 and it will work with an exchange server as well as long as it is not the rmnet version. I guess since the rmnet data connection is slower than ppp versions, it times out before authenticating everything. Been running it about an hour and haven't had any problems yet.
