Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
It's kinda sad that the only talk going on in the HD2 forum is Android. Guess considering I baled on sprint when I could have had the EVO, I don't understand the obsession other than to say "we did it".
|
Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
That's all it really comes down to. Not only to say "we did it" but just to have something to play with. Something to piss off Android users. I find it funny when you have somebody giving you shit saying how WinMo sucks because of this or that. You prove them wrong by doing pretty much what ever they can in Android with in WinMo then going as far as to boot into Android and run what ever app they are bragging about then booting back into WinMo.
Plus since I'm always dealing with clueless people it's nice to know how to use their phone even when it's another OS then what you normally use. |
Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
I'm with Wil. Everyday people talk about how amazing android is and how horrible Winmo is. I am the only person in my store that isnt using an android device (work for tmo). Over the last few days they have finally started believing me when I tell them that WinMo is the best operating system once you know how to work it.
In other news: Have the newest desire build running fully. Changed radio to 2.10 and that brought back the ability to configure apn. Gained consistent audio in the earpiece but lost speakerphone. Running Steve and Miri's Elegancia Rom 6.5.x |
Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
This website has notoriously been CDMA based also, so i'm surprised there's much talk at all with this being a GSM phone. I've been around here for 3 or 4 years and barely ever went to XDA, now things have changed since i finally switched over to GSM.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
I am getting the battery to charge while in android but have to wait til it has fully booted to plug the charger in. I had it plugged in when I ran haret and the charging led stayed on even after the charger was removed and the battery status said it was discharging while plugged in.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
No activesync is for when you're booted into Windows...HTCSync is the program Android users use for syncing to Windows OS.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
I tried last night with no luck also battery looks like its charging but its not

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
Doesn't matter what version I run the phone will recognize the phone carrier but I can't get it to access the net. If I go into APN settings there is nothing in the list or any options or buttons to try and manually add it.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
that happened to me a couple of times i just had to reboot into android mode a few times and it allowed me to set it

Darkstone is uploading V5 now, suppose to be much improved! |
Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
Ya I have V5 and it still wasn't playing nice. I deleted the data.img and loaded it one more time and it finally let me get to the screen to add the APN. It connects just fine now.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
Has anyone noticed any improvements thus far in v5? I'm downloading now and will give it a go. It seems the more you boot a particular build, the worse the performance gets. I ran v4 last night for a few hours straight and using the phone the whole time, while today I couldn't boot without immediately recieving force close errors for the android system process.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
Sense Version 5 is out, grab it from the link on first post, It is AMAZING speed is fast, everything works on my setup, voice is crisp and clear, getting fast 3G, HSPA, it charges just fine, running Sense UI with LWP and lots of widgets and it is still running fast off a class 2 SD. This build is just great!

Finally made a call and it works great...you also don't need to do the volume up/volume down trickery in Windows before booting Android to get the voice working! |

V5 does seem faster than v4. Was able to load without any immediate force closes but still having the problem of not being able to get to some menus, mainly the apn to configure data. Doing a restart and trying again. |

what specific problem are you running into with this? |
Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
It seems on the initial boot the windows hard key only pops up the menu on specific screens for me. I power cycled the device, went back in and was able to access the menus and configure without any problems. Haven't had any force closes on this boot either. It may be just the combination of rom and radio I am using that is causing the problem. Not sure what this build has changed within the touchscreen parameters but I can now play Fishin2Go just like it was on an actual android device. No more downtime at work!

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
I have tried sense since version 0.5 and I can say v.5 is good. In short of a few months Android has developed faster than ever. Heck even beating the touch pro 2 progress. It's still have issues and I will use windows mobile but I like having choices in my OS. Though I would love the x10 or the meego OS on it, HTC sense works too.

Re: Android on HD2 Updates!
July 22nd zImage up on Cotulla's site...guess i'm guinea pigging it!
EDIT: Here's the notes from the ReadMe - 22.07.2010: 1. fixed several errors which can cause system halt (related to i2c) 2. increased i2c stability (maybe gsensor are more slow now, should be checked) 3. AC charging supported now, about 1000 ma. 4. Added CPU voltage change, cpu not so warm now 5, experimental anti speedy (should be tested) 5. various small fixes DATA is working in this image, as well as old features. |

Cotulla now has a zImage dated the 23rd. Anyone tried it? I just gave it a run and it is very smooth but constantly had a the blinking notification light even after turning it off in settings.
