Ok, jokes on me, this morning's boot up of phone has the same message, "can't find rootfs, please un zip". The file is there, but must be corrupt. I'm missing something here, is windows doing something to the sd that's not allowing Android to boot?

It just gets corrupted somehow, this isn't a perfect port yet.

Best build so far is the Darkstone V5, there are a few of us who have run it for days switching back and forth and not getting that error. Everytime i try to run the Froyo 2.2 builds i get that error.

Okay so i've been running the 512MB data.img and the 384MB zImage and i have to say is DAMN Android can be a lot faster!

The 512 data.img i've ran for a couple more days and it tends to get unresponsive every now and then...if you just let it set for 4-5 seconds it picks right back up and keeps going though...

The 384 zImage hasn't done anything negative that i've seen but the responsiveness has gone through the roof! From what i read Cotulla is working on a 500MB zImage to be released soon!

I dont know if anyone else has come up with this problem cuz I havent seen anything on it. When I freshly install (Dan13jl's Froyo Desire rom it boots and works fine. but if I restart the device and run Haret again it comes up with that the rootfs failed and that it cant find the rootfs. Anyone know why it does that?

no worries, most issues have been discussed somewhere in this thread.

Like the dude above me said, Desire v5 is the most stable build to date, especially when you plug in the Aug 3 zimage and use setCPU and Autokiller to tweak the processor/RAM settings.

WELCOME! This is the FroyoStone series! Based on the official FroYo 2.2 OTA update for the HTC Desire!

I'll cut down to the chase:

Two builds,
- Clean (has HTC Sense elements such as black bar and dialer)
- Sense (has HTC Sense)

The clean build has some of the eye candy of Sense but is fast as stock FroYo roms.
But that doesn't mean the Sense version is slow either, its as fast as a stock build too! (Don't believe me? Try out Quadrant and NeoCore)

Now that I have your attention... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Make sure you read this before you post on forums about any issues you have. The answer may lie in this document.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instalation - First time usage:
- Extract the Android folder (with all files in in) to root of your SD Card. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
- If you already have an Android folder on your SD Card DELETE IT, because this version MAY BE INCOMPATIBILE with older releases !!!
- After copyng everything to your SD Card ensure you have at least 600 Mb free space for data store
- After u have done all steps go into Android folder and tap CLRCAD (for working sound), and after that just tap HaRET.
- On first run when there is “Creating a new datastore” just give it time to complete, and on first boot be patient and give it time to load everything DON’T FORCE... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
- If you get some strange errors, or Android does not work, try to reformat SD card and try everything from the start.
If that does not help, check your ROM/Radio version and search on XDA forum similar problems (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735), but be sure to SEARCH forum before you post a question ! http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Whats new:
- Two different builds based on the same Official FroYo 2.2 Update for HTC Desire. One build does not use HTC Sense (just has HTC Skin) apart from some applications. The other has complete HTC Sense.
- Both builds have the same functionality, just different interfaces. The speed of both builds are very fast, DO NOT BE BIASED!
- Camcorder is now working with HTC Camera, though 720p capture is still yet to be implemented. WVGA video capture works fine.
- Speed optimizations have been done to ensure a nice speed boost. Try out NeoCore and Quadrant after running Advanced Task Killer. The results should be similar to the Nexus One and HTC Desire.
- Flashlight app now works, the app is included in both builds. Light only works at brightest setting so far.
- Data.img has been increased to 512mb.
- Memory has been increased to 384mb.
- GPS is working.
- Bluetooth is working. (I have not tested HID devices or BT Headsets)

- All apps will now function and install correctly. If you have an issue installing an app from the Android Market or another source, then go through the following steps:

- Go to Settings > SD & phone storage > Unmount SD card
- Now install your app, it will now install correctly and function fine
- Go to Settings > SD & phone storage > Mount SD card

A proper solution will be worked on.

Known problems:
- 3G Data connection MAY BE slow or not working properly due to incomplete data driver in kernel
- Compass is inaccurate, this is known.
- Green LED blinks, THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE. This is a diagnostic feature to see if the phone has crashed or not.
- Keypad backlight does not function correctly (stays on all the time or stays off all the time). This is being worked on.
- all other things should work ok
