[request] kill apps and leave killed

Advanced task killer shuts them down, and they start again. Did speedtest.net app with everything running and got 0.20 mbs and did task killer and got 1.20 mbs. How the "F" do i get apps from starting on their own? Cool it multi-tasks but it should only multi-task things "I" open, or am i just to used to wm multitask were i can choose what runs when i want?

Re: [request] kill apps and leave killed

I believe there's a program called Osmonitor that lets you pick and choose I got rid of all those task killers until I get my replacement and haven't noticed a difference but it all depends on what you run but sprint isn't shy about having all their bloat ware running from the get go!

Re: [request] kill apps and leave killed

search advanced task killer....then read all those threads....there is a long story about the apps(activities) you're referring to. ATK has an auto kill option. The sprint apps that open are going too open every time you start a data connection.

Atk shuts down crap every 1/2 hour. Screen off feature don't work well when every time screen comes on the aps start again. I want them off and stay that way till I launch it.

Re: [request] kill apps and leave killed

Search and read all you can about Task Killers...I did, and now I am convinced they are not needed with the way Android is designed to work...the only time they should be used is when a poorly written app won't close like its suppose to...I have tried them all...I have now uninstaled them all...and not ONE BIT of difference in battery of performance...I swear now that I get better battery without them, because when they run to kiil apps that keep reloading (because the way Android works)...they use battery!

Of course, each to their own...this is just my opinion, based on a lot of reading on this topic...

Re: [request] kill apps and leave killed

I have autostart app, but don't know how to use it and it is not on my apps list to oen it. Full root with nand unlock. Just did a batch backup and a nand backup to flash a fresh rom, but all the apps that keep running are killing my net and can't download new rom thru rom manager. My sprint phones have been my net provider for a year now and this evo is way slow when all other apps are running. My touch pro screen died and with my mobiler i notice that data wont start to use it as a modem (way faster net then evo).

Re: [request] kill apps and leave killed

You can try a program like AutoKiller. I didn't see what ROM you are on, but have you removed all the Sprint stuff? Or at least the stuff you don't want? Off hand I know Calks ROM is pretty clean, without Sense installed it was very fast, I just had issues with updating and VoiceMails so I am using Fresh and I don't have much opening up without me wanting it to open.
