EVO users - Ready for Automatic Phone Call Recording? It's WORKING!!!!!

Download vRecorder from the Market, it WORKS!!!!! Only caveats are that it records in 3gpp format (plays on Quicktime player on a PC) and that the other person's volume is much lower than yours unless you put it on SpeakerPhone. Strangely enough, you can't even click on the files from Astro or whatever file explorer you use without an error message, but can play them back from within vRecorder. Perhaps there is an app in the Market that will play the files too, haven't looked yet. I'm too busy dancing naked around the house, this was a huge feature I wanted.

It also doesn't label them the way ACR did, with the Contact name, etc.

Bey HEY, at least it's possible and WORKS!!!!! Given that is works, someone hopefully will make a better interface, etc.

Legality for USA posted below! -Laos101

Federal law says that at least one party taking part in the call must be notified of the recording. This means recording a call you are not involved in is illegal throughout the U.S. unless you are a business and the call is occurring on a phone line or extension you are paying for and the employee has consented to be recorded,

However, in the states below, you MUST have consent / Notification of BOTH parties, prior to recording, in order to record a phone call.

California
Connecticut
Florida
Illinois
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
Pennsylvania
Washington
---

All Other states (Including D.C.) Require one party notification / Consent (Pretty much meaning if you're recording the call while on it then you're good)

Canada
In Canada, at least one party must be notified to record, meaning if you are recording it while on a call, you're good!

So if the other party is low, doesnt that mean this phone is not capable of full duplex recording? I remember my TP1 being like that.

Not sure what you mean, it's still full duplex if one side is low, right? You are still recording both sides at the same time, and even if the volume was the same, one person can always yell over the other. On the other hand, when you go to speakerphone, uhhhhh, need to test some more lol

But you can record both sides, that is the brass ring, only with the volume caveat. But it's still all there, just a little more annoying to listen to it later

That was the same way it was with the Mogul. You could hear yourself loud and clear, but the other party was very muted. IIRC, I was told it was a limitation of the hardware since it couldn't fully record in full duplex, what it was recording was like a reverb of the original voice.

Now that I think about it more, I am pretty sure it was the Mogul, not the Tp1 which suffered from this problem...

One party consent recording is completely legal in most of the US. Have a problem with it? Lobby your lawmakers to get it changed.

Sorry, better check your facts. It ALWAYS legal if both parties know, and in most places, within the states that allow it, legal with 1 party consent. Also, it always legal in the case of threats being made against you, without informing the other party.
