I use Ultimate voice recorder - Ultimate Voice Recorder - Android app on AppBrain
records all calls quietly in mp3 or 3gp format. can be easyy converted to mp3 on pc if needed. the other side volume is low but still good enough to understand.
P.S. why does call recording threads always turn in to "legal" issue discussion? can't people stay technical here? Everyone can decide if it's "legal" for him to do it or not on his own. And, btw, if I'm recording the conversation for my own use, I can't care less if it's legal or not.

Leonidm,

I tried Ultimate Voice Recorder and while the manual recordings work OK, the phone recordings are all of zero length. Did this happen to you? Any suggestions?

Here you go, but it doesn't work very reliably in the end. It doesn't seem to try and record all calls, either that, or I'm not setting up the shown page correctly:

Thanks for the link.

FWIW, I installed Total Recall and it appears to work OK. Of course the incoming sound is louder when the speaker is on. Several others in the app store did not work for me.

Total Recall only worked for me on outgoing calls, but it worked well, and the sound from the other person was better than vRecorder. But incoming calls didn't record, even though I had it set to record Both (In and Out). I thought it may have been because after doing an outgoing call test, I noticed it was recording to the root of the DC card, so a made a Total Recall directory, and then changed it to save the files there.

When the incoming wouldn't record, I decided to set it up again from scratch. I deleted the trial version, good for 7 or 14 days, as I recall, after less than one day. But then it wouldn't re-install, saying only one trial was free. This despite the fact I had days of trial to go. You'd think if they have a way to put something in the "registry" or whatever it's called in Android, that they could also keep track of the trial period.

Has anyone had this issue with incoming calls? I had it set to record "Both", and to ask me at the end of the call if I wanted to save it. I guess I may try it on my wifes Evo, and/or figure out how to get rid of the "flag". Or maybe it's just the Market keeping track.

I guess I'll try Ultimate in the meantime.

Are you using Bluetooth? I have yet to find one that works with Bluetooth active.

The trial version use is kept track of at the Market. I did a hard reset to see if that would fix the Bluetooth issue. I had to load the apps off the Market that Astro did not back up, including Total Recall. The trial app did not work after the reload.

I could not get Ultimate to work. But their tech support said they are working on an EVO version.

It's pretty clear that we aren't quite there yet. ACR worked great on the TP2, and nothing is working quite right on the EVO yet. And I'm not talking about the poor volume from the other end, that will never be fixed because of the hardware, EXCEPT if there is a wise programmer who can incorporate a compressor to equalize the volume between incoming and outgoing, then boost them both to acceptable levels. That should work
