I am currently using Demolition ROM (link is in my siggy) and you only have to update it as often as you deem necessary. Most updates include more features or fixes, but the current version of Demolition is pretty stable and usable in my opinion, so you could stick with it without upgrading for a while if you wanted to. Other than that, you can change them as often as you feel like it!
