You can find out if your LCD is of the "new" variety by setting it on the lowest brightness setting and tilting it to see if you see a yellow tinge. If you have it, you have the "new" LCD.

I must have been lucky with my refurb then.
I have the one without "pocket PC" on it, and there is no yellow tinge.
