Most new phones change NAI (the phone ID) when in PAM mode, but the 6700 does not when tethered via USB or BT - but if it did then PDANet would bypass that (since the phone is not in modem mode, which is when most that do NAI switching do that) and other then any difference in network use (ie, a lot more ports open, a whole lot of data) the carrier would not be able tell.

I've tethered a few times, but now that I've got most everything I need on the phone (including ssh) I would think I would only use it as a modem in very rare cases...
