WAY too hot... and WAY too long! you do NOT need to bring to water to a boil and you really dont need to leave the cover in for longer than 15 mins.

at the very most the water should be just a little hotter than you can stand to put your hand in.

Also if you can use the liquid dye instead of the boxed/powder type. this way you can get 4 or 5 dye treatments out of the same amount of dye and at roughly the same cost.
