I had this happened to me before but hasn't happen in this ROM yet. I think it has to do something with the .tsk, did you clear storage after flashing this ROM. Also a simple soft reset should fix it if it does happen.

This is a sprint ROM but has worked in other carriers as well, you can try and installed in with your carrier cab. If you do try and are successful, don't forget to report back so people can know that it works for alltel as well.

How about savage;s TD@ qwerty keyboard?
I personally don't use the qwerty keyboard but the phone pad. you can try the toggle for it and see if it works for you.
