I remember that out of the box, the Stock Rom didn't have too great of battery life in the first place. I think the whole idea of anybody's custom ROM includes battery performance enhancements.
I'll tell you a trick I did to Dramatically save on my battery life. it's to use your email Provider's email forwarding feature and type in the Email address of your carrier's "Email to SMS Gateway" .. Like for sprint, it is
10-digit-phone-number@messaging.sprintpcs.com
That way, every time, I get an Email, I'll get a text message with a little preview of what your email is about. If it appears to be an important email, you then use your email account (which is ideally set to check email Manually - instead of auto every 10 minutes, and so on) to check your account . ." i.e. clicking Send Receive" .. and pretty much you're getting "Blackberry-fast" email notifications as well and you don't have to pay the extra 30 bucks a month for a Blackberry plan.
Along with Bear Bonz Rom, this little email-check workaround has more than Doubled my battery life. It's worth a try.
