I had the same problem. Did some searching and found an old post in the old Apache AKU 3.5 forums about it. It seems the files are used by build dsm and have soething to do with activesync. I took a chance and deleted the files. It's been 24 hours and I haven't noticed anything negative, but at least SPB doesn't error on backups.
