Its still slower IN THE REAL WORLD than EVDO... But from a technical point its way faster than EVDO, it can do like 7.2mbps or something to that effect (theoretically)

I'm pretty sure HSDPA is indeed a 3G band. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Sp..._Packet_Access )

I've used an HSDPA AT&T PCMCIA cell card and consistently got ~4 Mbits down and 700 kbits up. With EVDO (not rev A) on Verizon I average around 1.1 Mbits down and ~110 kbits up. I'm in the metro Detroit area so I'm sure it'll depend on what coverage you have.
