I posted this over at SU so I will paste it here too.

HAHAH! After submitting to my own guilt... I WAS REVIVED WITH ANGER! I called Sprint and told the nicely and politely that I was disappointed at my replacement again due to the screen not being brite like my first mogul and that the yellow tint kills it. I asked them if they know if the backlight was changed and the rep said that she does not know and if it was not changed then I have yet another defective Mogul. She said call HTC and ask them. And if HTC confirms that there was no changes then I should not have to keep this defective Mogul. I told them i was scared when i was dialing Sprint because I fear they will drop me for calling too much. She said dont worry and this is a legitimate concern and she would be mad too is her 500 dollar phone was not working like it should. So i felt more assured and my guilt went away. SO... I called HTC and asked to talk to a engineer but the closes they can come to one is the desk rep. He said from his knowledge that he would have been informed of any major changes to their 6800 if there was any, just in case they receive calls on some changes then they could be prepared. And to his knowledge and reports he said he is confident nothing has been changed on the Mogul backlight. He said the Mogul backlight should be flat brite even hologen white in nature. And should have absolutely no yellow ,brown, orange tinting on it. So i asked him "why has my past Moguls been yellow in nature and not as brite" He replied.... "You must have a repaired refurbished Mogul from Sprint". I told him that i dialed ##778# and it shows a non refurbished and a date of Aug. 3 2007. He said "The EPST is resetted and never accurate about refurbished and non refurbished state." SO never go by what the EPST says. To my shock this is important for us all to know!!!!!!!!!!!! So he said his theory is that when Sprint told me they will get me a new Mogul from the manufacturer they actually meant that they will get a Mogul form a Sprint manufacturer. Not HTC. SU member.... this explains why theres some moguls with different manufacturing dates and some early ones have this yellow tint backlight and as well as some later models. SO..... HTC adviced me to deal directly with them and do a RMA form an I would get a REAL new Mogul in about a week or 2. SO... unfortunately when he asked for my Part number inside my mogul to get this process started... there was once again another problem. My mogul had NO part number listed in the back. SO he said I must have a part number that starts with a 99-------. If i dont then I must have a international Phone. SO... luckily there was a part number on the Mogul box itself. Which he said was odd. So checked out the number and came back saying "I am sorry but this phone is not repairable here since it is a international product. I said..."WHAT!". Then he said " We can still fix this and send you a new one but you have to go thru HTC america and it would take alot longer for this to process. I said forget it.. I am not going thru this.... so I asked him if I should let Sprint know and have them resolve this. He said..."Yes, you can try." Ok...... I call back Sprint Customer Care and luckily got a good english speaking lady. So i told her my whole story and she was laughin pretty much all thru it. And she said politely, "I am deeply sorry for this issue and I will do my best to get you a good working Mogul." So i explained to her that HTC confirmed that all HTC Moguls has a white brite backlight and in no way have they changed anything. And HTC blames the Sprint repair department. SO she looked into it and she agreed that yes I should not get anything less than what I originally purchased and that she would dig into the matter and see what she can do. She put me on hold for about 3 minutes. She came back and said.. "I looked into this whole matter and talked to my supervisor and we have come to a conclusion that we will replace this Mogul and order you one directly from HTC and not from our repair facilities." She said they will credit my account 549.99 dollars and when I get my new Mogul in about 1 week then they will deduct the money out and I wont pay one penny for this whole issue. So.... now I am down to my 5th Mogul and I think this is finally resolved. But.. if this comes back with a yellow tinted dimmer mogul again.... I think I will eat a live cat.

What have we all learned here?

1st : Don't go by the info on dialing ##778#. That gets altered and reseted when Sprint repair facilities gets their dirty paws on it.

2nd: Warranty replacement don't necessary mean you will get one from the factory like you should.

3rd: Moguls should not have a yellow tinted backlight

4th: If you go thru your insurance your screwed and will get a yellow tinted mogul. Unless you do go directly thru you warranty with HTC and only thru HTC. If you claim is warranty based.

5TH:When ppl say just leave it alone and live with it. THEY ARE WRONG. PERIOD.

6TH: most likely I will be terminated in the near future from Sprint.

Enjoy and sorry for this extra long post. But I feel this is a very important issue if you value your 549.99 dollars. Over and Out... SINNN.
