The screen going blank during customizations is just because the customizations are taking longer than they used to and the screen is timing out. Pressing power to wake it up is fine... I do the same thing.

As far as your clock problem, I can't say more than I did originally. Either:

1) Your customizations are not completing correctly and the clock is not being installed (which is an issue no one else has reported)

2) You are installing some other item that is breaking the clock.
