Little HTC seems to have run rings around MS in terms of innovation in half the time...

HTC has nothing in this, its all MS. They get tons of money from releasing new versions, and manufacturers must upgrade their newest products to the latest software. Which brings them boatloads of cash. Meanwhile, there are literally FRACTIONAL differences between the versions, and its almost a rebranding just to make more money. In the irony of itself, knowing microsoft, if it was TOO innovative, our software would stop working! (Compatibility modes, anyone?
)
Rather make re-releases every year and force manufacturers to buy the latest and greatest software rights (Which is what they're doing) they should be imporving and releaseing bi-annually.
Even worse, the last couple years they've been sitting on their pot not expecting IPhone competition, and they were SO Wrong.
So two things are happening right now
1. They are catching up their version numbers
2. They want it coinciding with their new Windows 7 so it seems so coy
Hopefully we get some innovation in between. Otherwise we can all just go to (Shudder) Apple and show them we will find our solutions elsewhere.
Oh, and ONE LAST EDIT! Windows 7 is slated for Q3/Q4 2009. WM7 is slated for Q1/Q2 2010. Microsoft it seems wont be winning the catchup as wanted. 6.5 will be thrown out the door literally, expect little fun with it.
