Basically you want to use both thumbs positioned near the top of the back cover to push the cover forward (using a little downward pressure with your thumbs).

You can use your two index fingers to apply pressure on the top of the phone (lay them flat on the chrome part on either side of the speaker hold 'pointing' at each other) as you push forward with your thumbs.

There will be a little 'snap' as the cover 'unlocks', it really only 'slides' forward a short distance, then you lift it off. The 'forward' motion is upwards towards the 'top' of the phone.

I hope I haven't completely confused matters. I just remember having a really hard time with the battery cover the first few times I need to remove it. I've found having your thumbs applying pressure near the top of the phone is what does the trick.

Good luck!
Nice explanation!
