Changing the dlls to .96 isn't enough. The icons in the dll don't always scale down properly, so they will mess up more that your task bar (call history for one). Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Polaris a GSM phone?
Try installing
this version for QVGA instead. It does not have the updated speaker icons yet, but it should work for you. Oh, and since your are on 6.1, your signal bars will not be modded, unfortunately...
