Skype on the Treo 700: Directions/Program

SKYPE for the Treo 700
Special ppcgeeks Mod/Version

So I like to occasionally use Skype on my Desktop and my PPC.

- Here's the problem: Skype released 2.1 recently and
it does NOT run well on the 700w/wx. It runs, but it is very sluggish.

- The solution? Use their no-longer-supported 2.0
which had 2 different versions: slow processor and fast processors.

Using the 2.0 for slow processors, it works very well on the 700. You just don't get all the bells-n-whistles of 2.1 like chat mode. But to be honest, I didn't like that junk anyways!

So since it is hard to find now, I'm posting it here to archive

Note: You need to use Headphones for this to work otherwise the sound comes out the back speaker not the Earpiece and NO there is no hack for that!

BONUS!
This is a special version: I UPX'd the program reducing the file size by 2mb which also lets the program load faster.

There is NO installation! Attached is a zip file and inside is the folder: just extract that folder to your \Progam Files directory so that it looks like this after the transfer:
\Program Files\Skype for PocketPC

You do NOT need to create a folder.

IMPORTANT: The 2nd file in the dirctory is just a Shortcut. Copy that to your Start Menu (\Windows\Start Menu) for quick access.
