Well, installing a new rom did not help. So I took the phone down to the Sprint store and after about an hour they gave me a brand new phone with accesories.
But I'm left wondering what went wrong with the phone. I was asleep when I think it broke. I woke up to a warning that some component of handmark could not start, shortly there-after it just locked up with the spinning busy icon and after a soft reset never booted again. Oh well, it worked out in the end I guess.
