Crayonbreaker,

This gives you the option to go from carrier to carrier like you can do with SIM cards on GSM networks. For example, if I go to a country on the opposite side of the world,
I don't want to pay Bell a fortune for roaming there. With GSM, I can just get a SIM card from the local carrier there, put it in the phone and voila I have a local number. Currently with most CDMA phones, you can't do it: the phone's Electronic Serial Number is hardcoded right into the phone. With what hpnasik is describing, you can do just that with your 6700.

The question that I am asking myself, however, is whether the carriers in North America have embraced RUIDs yet. Like, can I buy a RUID card to work with Telus or Sprint...
