I've been playing with PowerSMS, and it's ok. If I have to I'll pay for it, but I just find it hard to believe a phone this advanced can't do something as simple as this. My ancient Sanyo Katana even had a way of mass-texting your contacts :P

powersms let's you create groups to do exactly what you said. it's very easy. There's free programs out there too like this
