I'll second (or third or whatever) the sashimi recommendation.
I've got a filebackup.ini file so I don't have to register kinoma after reinstalling:
Code:
[FileSet1]
FileBackupDirMode=Auto
kinoma=\Application Data\kinoma\*.*,*
And a regexport.ini for various registry settings
Code:
[TitaniumWeather]
RegExportDirMode=Auto
key1=HKLM\Software\TitaniumWeather

[GAlarm]
RegExportDirMode=Auto
key1=HKCU\Software\ageye\

[Calibration]
RegExportDirMode=Auto

[backlight]
RegExportDirMode=Auto

[fontsize]
RegExportDirMode=Auto
key1=HKLM\ControlPanel\Stylus\192DPI\

[CHome]
RegExportDirMode=Auto

[Today]

[StartMenuOrder]

Before hard resetting/flashing, you just go to Start->Sashimi->Sashimi Quicklinks->Registry Export and ->File Backup to back things up, then once flashed, run \Storage Card\SASHIMI\Program\Bin\Sashimi.exe and everything will be back the way it was before you flashed.

The only difficult part is figuring out where in the registry the programs store their settings. After that, you're free to flash with impunity!

Watch the videos, read the manual, it's worth it if you like flashing.
