This allows the exitbl to run, otherwise you will get an error that it can't connect on usb.
Although--if your phone resets and passes the bootloader screen and goes to WM then it probably worked for you.

The phone restarts immediately after the RUU finishes and doesn't give you a chance to disable the USB connection within activesync (I have had the screen pulled up a couple of my attempts and was faster than quick draw disabling USB, but still not fast enough). How do I get the phone into bootloader mode to see what it says anyway? This isn't my phone, I am trying to upgrade for my dad so he will be able to use Internet Sharing so I am not familiar.
