Yes you can, but you will no longer be able to flash it because in modifying it the ROM will lose its digital signature. The device requires the ROM to have HTC's digital signature or it won't allow it to be flashed.
And no we can't re-sign it with HTC's signature (we don't have that). So at this point you are stuck with the official ROMs released for your carrier.
