my understanding is push internet will allow you to shut off your internet connection which of course will reduce memory and battery usage. Bonz discusses this in his blog on the first page. I would assume any program or app that requires internet will not function like push email, weather updates, rss feed updates, etc. But this is designed to allow you to choice of turning it off when you know internet usage is not needed (like overnight for example).
