That is one way of doing it... I've been using the Ext_Packages_Rebuilder.exe to rebuild BuildOS OEMs to the Ext Packages.

I'll do some testing to see if the .svn or _svn files cause any problems. SVN commands can easily be put into Batch scripts for people to do pulls/updates. I use TortoiseSVN at work quite a bit along with VBScripts directly calling svn.exe for working with Repositories. It's not too hard to simplify things down to a button-click in a .hta file.
