Can someone help me with a very basic issue. When I open the kitchen "click to start here" batch file, it skips "buildos" and goes straight to the update utility, which subsequently does not work . Am I doing something incorrectly?

I initially flashed the basic ROM, and while there's a lot to like, has anyone else noticed a big lag with IE?

Let me add an addendum: I went into tools and found buildos.exe. Is this a workaround? When I do try that I get an error message that the program stopped working.
