I got an email from CooTek with the solution for those who want to revert back to 3.5 but can't.

If you want to revert to V3.5 for any reason after trying out V4, and if it doesn't work as you expected, please follow the steps below:

1. Uninstall TouchPal from Settings->Remove Applicatoins
2. Go to "Program Files\TouchPal\Surface", backup the user dictionary files under the language folders.
3. Delete the "Surface" folder
4. Soft reset
5. Install TouchPal V3.5
6. Restore your user dictionary
7. Soft reset to make it effective.
