So, are you saying that your oem base is from somewhere other than a Calcu kitchen? If so, where from. I believe that Calcu removed some elements of the XIP and puts them in an oem, so if you aren't using one of his bases, you may get a non booter. I'm sure Calcu can shed more light on this than I.
