I think there is probably one simple answer to why all the development is happening for the iphone. MONEY.

From a developers side, it is easier to make money developing for the iphone.
You have an HUGE installed base and you have a built-in delivery system - the APP store. Granted, Apple takes a large cut from APP store sales but they make it so easy for the developer and end-user. From a developer's standpoint (esp. for small developers) it's a no-brainer.

For a WinMo device, it's not about writing a great App. There are plenty of great Apps. It's about distribution and driving sales. Unless you have to $$$ to develop your own website and advertisement, it's not that easy to make money.
