I was able to active my Sprint phone via 228,3 a couple months ago, and I may need to in the future, so this topic interested me. I've always wondered what the deal is with the Alltel Diamonds being put on the official Verizon network now that they're close to being one-in-the-same. I always had the idea (which seemed like a good one) to try it but could never find any credible info on its probable success. Please update us if you try it.

I did have a conversation with vz TS during my process (when 228,3 failed for me) about this exact topic and they said they "the transition would take some time. Probably ~6 months." (Transition being merging the networks/phone database, etc.) This was after the acquisition, in lat Feb, early Mar I think. So that would mean they might be ready to go in a month or so, or anytime now if they were overestimating, as they probably were.
