It doesn't make sense to me why the WM6 upgrade would cause it to change. Figuring that out is a good puzzle. Not any help, I know, but I agree it is odd.

Basically, I'd jotted down all the settings from the GoodLink Status page before I did any upgrade. The Serial number showed the ESN prefix when I was running WM5 and a working Goodlink. After the ROM upgrade, when running the GoodLink installer, the Device Info option showed the serial number as IMSI: which I noticed was substantially different from what I'd seen before. After backing the ROM back down to the latest supported Sprint ROM, my Serial was again an ESN number, which GoodLink was able to install on.
All this being said, I'm not SURE that the IMSI vs ESN has anything to do with it at all, BUT it's different, and even though I had a brand new GL PIN to reactivate, it didn't work. The clean install stated that my carrier wasn't supported (wrong, since it worked earlier). My second attempt was to perform a GLRestore from a backup, which hung at the "downloading services" prompt (again, not surprising, since my Serial number changed between the backup and the time I did the restore).
I'm not 100% sure on how all the GL interaction happens, but it seems that it's got to be related somehow. I'm curious why the Serial would switch from an ESN to IMSI (I've heard rumblings that it's a CDMA vs GSM thing?)
I've not had the chance to try again, and travel for work may keep me from doing so for a couple more weeks. I can't have the phone sorta funkified and not getting email while I'm on the road... *sigh*
