The limit isn't completely gone, its in the transition phase. If the tower you're connecting to has a T1 or slower uplink, the 5GB limit applies as those towers need to serve a lot of people and Verizon doesn't want to overload it with someone who obviously uses their phone for more than a phone/business use. Majority of the towers out there are fiber connected now, these towers the limit is 30GB (no "unlimited" for Verizon). I know of this limit as I've used several phones on several accounts all over the Western USA and anytime I hit 5GB I can't get EVDO at half the locations, and if I hit 30GB I lose data completely until I call in to have them reset it.
