Re: Barcelona Spain and TP

I used Skype in Paris by walking around the city trying to find a free wifi spot. As soon as I got into Paris to meet a friend I realized my GSM phone was out of minutes since I forgot to top it off back in London. Lucky for me free wifi spots were pretty abundant walking around. Skype works fantastic on the PPC, even in Europe. Many hotels/hostels typically offer free wifi so you can typically piggyback off those signals.

Barcelona is a beautiful place, though it's not particularly known for it's beaches (some of them are nude though, but it's not as fun as you'd imagine as there are many old, unattractive folk around, hahah). The beaches are artificial and not nice and sandy so it can actually be pretty painful to walk on without sandals. You gotta check out some of the architecture in Barcelona, specifically buildings by Gaudi, which tend to be very surreal and funky. There's a fantastic park with a lot of his architecture called Park Guell that you should take a bus to and check out. The Sagrada Familia is really cool too and probably one of the funkiest looking cathedrals you'll ever see. Eat lots and lots of paella, I've never had paella better, though try to find some of the more authentic local places. Theres a fantastic restaurant in Placa Real that I can't quite remember the name to, but there's always a relatively large line waiting for seating, so its not that hard to miss. Even though it seems everyone goes there, I still highly recommend it.

At night it can be kind of sketch, especially in the darker alleys, but nothing to overly worry about.

Whenever you go to cities you don't know, it's always handy to buy/borrow the lostplanet/timeout/travel guides. That helped my friends and I plan out to do as much as we can when we went to various cities.
