They just want you to have to upgrade, within a year or less, it's that way with all of the carriers.
Look at the "no sd" slot for sprint.
I mean comon, they have sd's on the predicessors yet they disable it with the phone that finnally has everything else right
, now on Verizon they add the sd clot in and axe the memory......what a stupid game...so now everyone has a reason to upgrade again.
