If you can get it into bootloader mode you can reflash it. Most phone dont look for a screen or not, its just an output device. you'd be better off gonig that route and the touch window and the LCD alone are going to cost you well above the cost of the insurance replacement. Try that first, and if it doesn't work, THEN replace the LCD and touch window.
