Believe it or not, I had Never totally powered off my phone like this. I always just keep it in standby, or Hit the soft reset button with the stylus if I want to reboot.

I remember reading about that in the manual, but since I never did it, when the instructions said "turn it off" I just pushed the power button momentarily and turned off the display. Needless to say. It didn't work. Took me about 1 hour to figure out what I was doing wrong.
This occurred to me also, and I tried it completely off, but perhaps I had not gotten the driver properly installed at that time.

Can others confirm that "OFF" is completely off, not in suspend? That would surely explain why the device kept tuning back "on" when I plugged in.
