Thanks for the replies. I'm getting ready to flash to 6.5 and am formatting the 8gb card first. Noticed besides the 131 folder which takes a long time to open but appears to be empty, there is a hidden file EncFiltLog.menc that doesn't show while using file manager. Found it after plugging the card into the desktop. Perhaps one of the newly installed programs (possibly in the card root directory) activated file encryption???
![Confused](images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
The menc file shows 0 kb but I suspect it's inacurate. Going to put the card back in the phone and do some homework on encryption to see if I can save the few files that weren't backed up.
Edit to add: Memory, storage card shows the space on the card is still being used. (about 1GB worth of music files)
Found the most probable answer in a different PPC forum on the site.

Alot of times, if you check the card , you will find it has a single file with a .menc extension. This means that the phone has encrypted all the info on the phone (edit...I meant on the SD card) and it will not be viewable by any other device, and the only way out is a long an painful data restoration process that will allow you to recover most of the data off the card in chunks. Its really quite a pain in the ***...its happened to me once and to my roomate once. Since then, I make it a point not to plug in or unplug a USB cable unless I am POSITIVE that the card is not being accessed by the phone.
