Same process as flashing a ROM.
It will improve signal, battery life, and decrease heat.
IMO Top 3:
1) Telus(by far)
2) Sprint 1.11(I had issues, but most seem to enjoy it)
3) Verizon TP Radio(heat issues, but great signal)
