*2 is not suppose to do anything on alltel. *228 is what you're after. There are many custom roms to choose from over in the upgrade forum. Most of them are multi-carrier so you can use it on any touch pro, and will say so in the first post, but others are carrier specific, so watch out for those. Conflipper is the only chef that makes roms specific for alltel. Mighty Rom is what I use, and I think his is one of the most stable and fast out there.
