I was confused by that at first too. In order to reply, just start typing
It will pop up the virtual keyboard and start counting your characters. Just tap send when you're done typing the message. The only feature I wish the program had is the ability to send with a hardware button, I don't like having to tap the screen. Anyways, I hope that helps!
