Not sure on #1, but on #2, I believe(someone correct me if I'm wrong), in order to get the new Rhodium style
popup notifications, the ROM need to be running a 21000+ build(<21000 builds will only show the new style manually opened notfication window, when you click on the notification icon). MightyROM is only running a 20771 build.
Mike did say a 21000+ build is coming, but I'm guessing that will be with the next Rhodium build he releases.
