He's just warning that if you send something over 500k, some people (based on their carriers limitations) may not receive it. This has nothing to do with the software involved, it's a carrier defined limitation.

Edit: Personally speaking, I am not sure VZ actually hard limits at 500k. I have not tested this for the sake of testing, but I just send whatever I want to whoever I want and I've never had an issue with it not being received. It could just be coincidence that I've never sent anything over 500k to a VZ customer... but I'd bet against that. *shrug* Beats me, though.
