I was on the phone with a Sprint rep the other day that told me that TEP (insurance) can be added to an account whenever a phone is activated - new phone or not, and that TEP covers the phone that is currently active on the account - new (purchased from Sprint) or not (ebay, 2nd hand, etc). It wouldn't hurt to see if you can add it when you activate Darren's phone, and possibly re-activate your broken TP at a later date to see if insurance can cover it. Not the most ethical thing to do (depending on who you ask), but really you would have claimed it had you had the insurance to begin with...
Oh, and I have to second jsvt3 above - Darren, you surely are a stand up guy!
