Re: Verizon won't activate my Sprint Touch Pro

Supposedly that's the route that VZW will eventually be going (i.e. "we'll activate it, but if you have any service issues at all, you're SOL"). To be fair, VZW is currently the only CDMA carrier to even have any sort of open access development. At this point it's pretty much restricted to telemetry devices, but this should change in the future.

I also find it funny that people are griping about a loophole being patched in VZW's network. Call up Sprint and ask them to activate a BlackBerry Storm or something for you and check out their reaction. I can't believe anyone is actually up in arms over this happening.

ESNs will absolutely not be added to the database unless it passes the VZW "network tests", as outlined in the OD FAQ's on the website. Again, at this point it is restricted to specific data and telemetry devices so requesting to send off your Sprint Touch Pro would likely be a waste of time. THEORETICALLY, and this goes for Sprint and VZW both, an ESN could manually be added to the switch, but billing system/switch ESN mismatches are usually detected automatically by the system and are fixed (with the billing system having the final say).

I'm curious about what will happen when the Alltel conversion is complete. You 'ought to be able to activate an Alltel Touch Pro at that point with no problems, and it's basically a carbon copy of the Sprint model.
