Anyways, this is what is happening: hannip over at TC and XDA (not sure if he's here too, I'm getting confused, lol) thinks that the problems are tied to partly what you say: the AKU issue and more specifically, their verion of Outlook.
What he did was grab all the messaging files on the device (SMS and email) and was going to put them in a directory together and then work his way down to see what works and what doesn't.
Reportedly just having the Outlook helped alleviate the problem with "the old SMS system" creeping back and taking over.
Of course, for your specific problem there is
MortScript which could do that trick. Not sure how to use it, though I may try for other reasons. Also, maybe try the latest .cab file which has some registry fixes in it.
Re: AKU 3.2, are you implying that is the next AKU for the Treo or just mentioning the latest one?
