I thought the protector that comes with it is really good, I couldn't hardly tell a difference with it on and without. There is a tiny airspace near the top edge that I can't get rid of, but it's no biggie. Yeah, the stylus that comes with them is kind of sharp. I let my dad play with my phone and he used the stylus on it and put several very fine scratches in the protector.
